sand and stone took you away
after hours and hours of pleading you to stay

your heart weighted with guilt
your mind disarrayed
as wisdom laughed at the mess she had made

they spit on your glory
they mock at your strength
and now they scream empty justice
as to where your body lay

now your brother, your son, and i
stare in disbelief and weep
for it was you, who in love
broke the chains off our feet

where will i go?
will i stay?
will i leave?

all i have of you now
are mere whispers in the trees
